Evaluation

Evaluation

What was successful:

Group skills

I think that me and Gaby worked very well together, we both said our ideas and opinions and managed to use all of them in our film. We both had our weaknesses when it came to this task as Gaby was good at filming so filmed most of our film and then i was good at planning and directing, so this meant that our weaknesses came together to create one big strength, and both our individual strength may have been another weakness, which was why we worked well as a team. We never argued about anything and overall I think we worked well as a team.

Planning

Me and Gaby made sure that we new exactly what we were going to do before we even started to think about filming. We made sure we knew what each scene and clip was going to be, what would happen in it and how long the clip lasted for. We then knew were would be a good place to film and what the character should look like and act (personality). We then gathered and ask two people to be our actors that looked for the part.
We used story-boards to show the shot of each clip  and to explain about the soundtrack, camera movement and dialogue and the timing of each shot.
Maybe next time we should follow our story boards more carefully as we didn't this time.

Filming Skills

I think we could of done better when it comes to filming, as most of our film was tracking which means we couldn't of used the tripod, so our film ended up very shaky. However for our first time using a camera, we wasn't so bad and now understand what do do and not what to to when filming again. A example of were our camera skills wasn't the best, was when we filmed Harry's feet walking down the stars, as the camera kept cutting his feet out of the shot etc. Also next time I think we should use the tri-pod more, as we didn't use it much this time; which might mean when planning our film design it to what equipment with have in the school.

Editing Skills

I think I could personally improve on my editing skills, which i'm hoping i'll do during the year. Mine and Gaby's film does look okay and doesn't have major jumps in it and is able to run smoothly and looks like a continues film. There is no silly mistakes and the shots are in the right order, and the more times we edit, hopefully the better we become.

Sound

At first we wasn't going to use any sound or music as we thought it will create more tension but when it came to looking at our film there was a lot of background noises which meant their was no tension and you couldn't just hear Harry's footsteps. So me and Gaby decided to as music to our film instead.
The music for our film, I think, is good as it sets a scene and creates tension and suspense on what the character is about to do. The music leaves tensions and suspense all the way though our film. I do think we could have improved on the background noises as you could hear people that wasn't in the film. But hopefully we will improve on this during our media course.

Overall I think for our first time, me and Gaby did quite well. The film could have gone better, like the filing and background noises but for our first time wasn't terrible. But we did complete the task and included everything that needed to be in the film e.g walking through a door.
